Longueteau Blanc 60 ans du RSMA 100% Canne Rouge is a very special edition of agricultural rum. It pays tribute to the work of Guadeloupe's RSMA (Régiment du Service Militaire Adapté), which is much appreciated on the island.
This cuvée is originally reserved for Guadeloupe. Luckily, however, we were able to obtain a few bottles. Collectors and Longueteau lovers beware...
This pure cane juice rum comes from a single variety, red cane, grown on the lands of the Marquisat de Sainte-Marie. Once fermented, the juice is traditionally distilled in a Creole column. The Longueteau family, farmers and distillers, manage the entire process, from cane planting to bottling.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is that of a fragrant, fruity and generous rhum agricole. The cane is ripe and expressive. It is round, with powerful aromas of cane sugar and a hint of marron glacé.
Aeration only brings more brilliance to this cane. It is adorned with fine notes of lime zest and pepper, as it continues to swell with sugar. The marron glacé remains in mind, but now expresses itself in full voice, with incredible gourmandise.
The palate is very round, with the fatty texture of a great brandy. The cane is lemony and savory, spreading slowly across the palate. A few spices languorously warm the taste buds, in a very gentle way.
The finish is as mellow as ever, almost syrupy, with candied citrus.
