Longueteau Constellation Blanc Edition 2022 57.5°: Description and customer reviews

This Longueteau Constellation is a limited-edition white rum for the Route du Rhum 2022. This race, which links Saint-Malo to Pointe-à-Pitre, takes place every 4 years and brings together a large number of skippers ready to take on the ocean.
Given the success of the first Constellation vintage in 2018, it was obvious to Longueteau that a new one was needed.

This rum comes from a blend of two single-plot distillates. Plot No. 1 planted with red cane benefits from a maritime climate and plot No. 7 planted with blue cane is subject to a rather humid climate.
This blend benefited from a rest of 8 months, which made it possible to carry out a reduction as slowly as possible until reaching 57.5°.

17,400 numbered and screen-printed bottles have been produced for this 2022 edition of the Route du Rhum.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose is immediately enveloped in cane juice that explodes heavily into silky, almost creamy notes, garnished with red fruits. Longueteau never fails in its mission to offer the finest white agricultural rums. It's all here: sweet cane, ripe fruit, elegant pepper and a velvety rum impression.

With aeration, we have greater access to the rum's depths, to its heart, and thus to the fermentation of the juice. This reveals both sour and sweet notes that breathe terroir and the fermentation vat. In line with the creamy notes we first detect, we sometimes find a delicate hint of milk chocolate.

The palate is just as silky as the nose suggested, while living up to the expected level of expressiveness. A veritable discussion with the cane ensues, with bursts of vegetation, a minerality perfectly balanced by a certain roundness, lime peel that's sometimes bitter, sometimes candied... In the mid-palate, we return for a moment to the earth, then to cane peel and pepper, before plunging back into the sweet fiber.

The finish is very round, full of fiber and candied pepper, with a hint of cut grass and sweet-spiced milk chocolate that settles in with length.

"A superb success from Longueteau, with this white rum that literally has everything going for it..."

  10. Didier THOMAS

Here, beware, there's a level to it. A nose of great aromatic intensity, very fresh and greedy at the same time. An explosive, powerful, concentrated yet controlled palate. An iron hand in a velvet glove. It's a pity, however, that the palate is a little too marked by cut grass and a little earthiness due to the slightly volcanic terroir. To compensate, there's a wonderful, round, warm finish with an irresistible hint of milk chocolate. A tasting rum for connoisseurs, to be left to breathe and enjoyed at the right moment accordingly........
