Mezan Chiriqui is a molasses rum distilled in Panama. Chiriqui is the name of a province in Panama. The rums making up the blend have been column distilled. They are aged for at least 3 years in bourbon casks, before being finished in moscatel casks.
As usual, Mezan bottles its rums with no added sugar or coloring. No cold filtration is carried out.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose opens with light alcohol and fine, colorful flowers. In this cloud of ethereal notes, we find a few touches of solvent, as well as a hint of mineral and charcoal.
With aeration, the flowers show a little more character. Their fragrances catch the nostrils more strongly, and a certain bitterness can be detected. These floral aromas are gradually joined by fruitier notes, always with a light touch.
The palate is soft and round, with the more ethereal notes melting first on the palate. A hint of burnt wood glides across the palate on the mid-palate, leaving behind a few light vanilla notes.
The finish is very light and finely peppery.
"A very light rum, designed to bring a little color to your cocktails..."
