New Grove Double Cask Moscatel was first matured in French oak for 7 years before finishing its ageing period in a Moscatel cask for a further year. This rum offers very fresh aromas thanks to this original finish.
New Grove Moscatel is a sure bet as it won the gold medal at the 2016 Rum Fest in Paris for the 'innovation of the year' category.
Laurent's tasting note
Its colour is between amber and caramel.
On the nose, it is greedy and complex. We have a lot of combined aromas and it's not easy to distinguish them from each other. Baked caramel, cinnamon, vanilla, pepper and apple share the top spot, followed closely by walnut and liquorice. It is worth spending some time with.
On the palate, a very slight sweetness is felt, which accentuates the greedy impression perceived on the nose. Notes of honey, liquorice and wood dominate. A vegetal impression is also present, while a spicy sensation heats up the mouth a little.
The finish is long and relatively pleasant in its simplicity. Indeed, the two main actors here are vanilla and wood. Pepper and nuts are more in the background.
