Plantation Rum Jamaica 2010 is a blend of two Jamaican molasses rums distilled in 2010. This cuvée has been selected for the New Vibration catalog at Whisky Live Paris 2023.
The first rum comes from New Yarmouth, and the second from Worthy Park Estate. All were aged for 5 years in ex-bourbon American oak barrels before being transferred to Château de Bonbonnet. In Charente, the rum continued its ageing in a cognac barrel from Ferrand, for a further 8 years.
Bottled brut de fût, no additions have been made to this cuvée.
Jérémie's tasting notes
On the nose: a rich and expressive nose, marked by gourmand notes of vanilla and caramel. Aromas of ripe banana, pineapple, and lightly oxidized fruit add lovely depth, while hints of camphor and vegetal notes recall cooked sugarcane. With aeration, these herbaceous notes intensify, lending a beautiful complexity to the whole.
On the palate: the attack is direct, supported by a slight bitterness that structures the tasting. A delicately toasted oakiness paves the way for flavors of candied tropical fruit, bitter orange peel, and cocoa. Spices, dominated by clove and freshly grated cardamom, add depth and dimension. A persistent peppery note accompanies the finish, where subtle hints of camphor reappear.
The finish: long and persistent, it prolongs the notes of roasted wood, enhanced by spices, medicinal herbs and a delicate touch of anise.
