Worthy Park is Jamaica's oldest distillery.

The land on which the distillery was built belonged to Lieutenant Francis Price, a soldier who had served Cromwell so well that Cromwell donated it to him. The distillery began producing rum in 1741, with 3,000 gallons registered that year. Between 1879 and 1899, Worthy Park sold more rum than sugar, of which Jamaica was the world's leading supplier.

The distillery closed in the 1950s, following an agreement with the Spirits Pool Association to curb the overproduction of Jamaican rum.
It reopened in 2005, developing Rum-Bar, Worthy Gold, Rum-Bar Rum Cream and Rum-Bar Vodka on its own account, all of which are now highly successful.
The plant has undergone considerable modernization, including the installation of one of the world's few automated stills capable of producing up to 4,000 liters of rum a day, and equipped with a distillation process monitoring system.

Since 1670, the estate has been run by three successive owners, including the Clarke family, who acquired it in 1918 and remain, to this day, the custodians of the secret of the spirits produced here.

Now a thriving business, Worthy Park exports wholesale light, medium and heavy rum, in containers holding up to 25,000 liters.
Part of Jamaica's historical and cultural identity, Worthy Park has become a popular stopover for tourists from all over the world. Read less
