Our tasting note from Thomas
The nose is very expressive. The peat is slightly smoky and salty, with hints of seaweed and eucalyptus. Fresh white fruit (pear first), vanilla sugar, lemon and a hint of chocolate hazelnut are also present.
Aeration lends a mineral aspect (cold stone), aromatic herbs (herbes de Provence, melissa) and a hint of sliced bread. Then, a little green banana and linseed oil make their appearance. The nose gradually takes shape.
The palate is rich and oily. The peat is slightly smoky, well salted and carries vegetal flavors (seaweed, eucalyptus, oregano). We start with a rather sweet combination of pears, banana and vanilla. This is followed by dried fruits (almonds, walnuts) and lemon.
The finish is more mineral and lemony. Smoke (charcoal) is present on retro-olfaction, despite the still visible dominance of seaweed and eucalyptus. A residue of banana and lemon is then felt in the ambient freshness.
" An expressive peated whisky where the fruits reveal themselves on the seashore..."
