Tres Hombres La Palma puro Bio is a pure organic cane juice rum distilled in 2020 at Aldea in the Canary Islands. The Frères de la Côte sailors took this white rum on board their ship in an old moscatel cask. The ship then made a round trip to the West Indies, 8590 nautical miles, before unloading the cask for bottling in Amsterdam.
During this double crossing, which lasted a total of 7 months, the rum benefited from a dynamic ageing process that gave it a beautiful color, as well as a remarkable roundness.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose of this rum is very sweet and enveloping, like vanilla cane honey. The sugar cane is more than ripe, and its cooked juice gives off very gourmand, sweet, candied aromas. A touch of marron glacé, toffee and buttery cake batter.
With aeration, we find a slightly more vegetal aspect, but once again well candied. Whereas earlier we were talking about marron glacé, now we're back to something fresher and more natural, with a hint of cooked chestnut.
The palate is greedy, but not sweet. It offers sweet flavors of unrefined cane sugar and baked chestnuts, even a little oven-roasted. The result is a warm, tender setting, like a nougat with plump almonds.
The finish returns to the more vegetal, green side of the cane, still in that velvety spirit.
"A very pretty rum made from pure cane juice, a nugget of gourmandise and delicacy..."
