Vieux Vaval 10 Year Old 2016 Small Batch ex-Caroni Cask 54.6% ABV: Description and Customer Reviews

This 10-year-old Vieux Vaval is part of The Spirit of Haiti project, spearheaded by the independent bottler Velier to showcase the richness of clairin, a traditional Haitian spirit usually drunk young and unaged. This vintage pays tribute to the work of the Arawaks distillery, founded in Cavaillon in the south of the country and now run by Fritz Vaval.

Made from pure sugarcane juice of the local Madame Meuze variety, this clairin was distilled in 2016 before undergoing full aging in a tropical climate for 10 years . For this small batch edition, six casks that previously held rum from the legendary Caroni distillery in Trinidad were selected, lending a particularly unique dimension to this maturation. It is bottled at its natural strength of 54.6% ABV.

Produced in a limited run of only 800 bottles , this 2016 vintage is the oldest Vieux Vaval ever bottled and stands out as a particularly distinctive benchmark among Haitian clairins. Combining artisanal craftsmanship, extended tropical aging, and the use of rare ex-Caroni casks, this Small Batch is a natural fit for enthusiasts and collectors seeking exclusive bottlings and exceptional productions.
