Botran Solera 1893 40°: Description and customer reviews

Botran Solera 1893 is a blend of several rums aged between 5 and 14 years, matured using the solera system. Benefiting from the optimal climatic conditions of the Guatemalan highlands, it also draws its aromas from the different oak casks used, namely bourbon casks, some of which have been burnt a second time, and sherry and port casks. The result is a rich, complex blend.

Laurent's tasting notes

Her dress is amber.

On the nose, this rum offers three main aromas, fairly classic for a ron: caramel, vanilla and orange. However, it is more complex than others thanks to three other elements that are more discreet: honey, nuts and banana. An interesting and rather gourmand nose.

On the palate, caramel is the main marker, complemented by vanilla, while a relatively light touch of wood appears. The impression is much drier than the nose might suggest.

The finish is predominantly woody. It is also slightly tannic.

If you like it, we recommend :

  • A lovely, slightly softer ron du Panama, where the wood expresses itself differently...
  • A rum, not a ron, with common characteristics...
