Breiz'Île Rhum Vieux Sélection is made from Guadeloupe agricultural rum aged in oak barrels.
The Bourdaine honey used in its composition comes from south-western France (it is also found in the Massif Central). It comes from Bourdaine, a shrub that grows in humid forests. Bees are particularly fond of it, thanks to the sugar-rich nectar found in the flower. This honey is harvested in July.
A Madagascar vanilla pod enriches the aromatic palette of this arrangé, which won a gold medal at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris (2016).
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is divided between a gourmand, pastry-like old agricultural rum and a honey that still carries all the freshness of the flowers from which it is made. This honey takes on strength and fullness with age, and is extremely generous and even full-bodied.
On the palate, rum and honey intermingle to form a formidable caramel. The roundness of the honey only compliments that of the rum and its vanilla woodiness, in an extremely generous texture. The honey wins out in the end, thanks to an assertive autumnal honey character with almost organic notes.
"An immensely indulgent honey-rum, where the quality of the ingredients shines through in every drop..."
