Cuban rum distilled from molasses, Caney Añejo Centuria has benefited from the experience of the island's maestros roneros to acquire a richly aromatic character. A harmonious blend of several rums at least 7 years old, this cuvée has benefited from Cuba's oak casks, generously sunny climate, fertile soils at the foot of the Sierra Maestra and the spring water used for its reduction.
The long years in casks have given Caney Añejo Centuria a slightly oaky character.
Laurent's tasting notes
Pale gold in color.
On the nose, woody/vanilla notes dominate. Although Caney Añejo Centuria is relatively sweet, it doesn't leave a sugary impression. There's also a discreet hint of roasting.
On the palate, this is confirmed: the alcohol is very discreet, but we are indeed dealing with a dry Spanish-style rum (in the Cuban tradition). The vanilla and roasted aromas present on the nose also permeate the palate.
The finish is rather long, still dry, with vanilla and wood making themselves felt. This woodiness even gives a slight tannic impression, accentuating the dryness.
