Don Q 151 is a blend of white rums aged for up to 3 years.
Although the more experienced can drink it neat, it is mainly used in mixology (Tiki) for its strength and relative roundness.
Nico's tasting notes
In brief: strong spices - roasting - dry - fruit - animal
The nose opens with classic aromas of vanilla and caramel, with undisguised power. The alcohol is dry, with floral notes. A few red fruit sweets also escape the fray, taking strong spices with them.
On aeration, beware the nose: nuts and wood are very dry, despite a hint of vanilla and a little sugar. Rest will bring out some very interesting things: camphor, unexpected concentration, vegetal heather, solvent, licorice, and finally smoky, generously peppery meat.
The palate is very powerful and much heavier than on the nose. The spices begin to assault every nook and cranny of the mouth, hammering it with ripe exotic fruit, which in the end is far from unpleasant. A savory rum has settled in, with vanilla, wood and tobacco.
The finish continues the vanilla trend, leaving the taste buds numb with such power.
"This rum for cocktails contains unexpected and interesting flavors that will undoubtedly blossom with a good recipe..."

We actually used the rum to make candy. It was perfect!
