Don Q Blender's Reserve rum embodies the legendary craftsmanship of the Serrallés distillery , a jewel of Puerto Rico 's rum-making tradition for over 150 years.
This is a blend of molasses rums aged in American oak barrels . It comprises eight rums aged between 5 and 18 years . Once blended, these rums undergo a second maturation of four years in American white oak barrels . Before bottling, a ninth rum, aged 10 years, is added to complete the blend. The final age range is from 9 to 22 years.
Jérémie's tasting notes
On the nose : It offers aromas of cane honey, a touch of vanilla, caramel, and lightly roasted notes. There are also hints of nuts. Then, with time, dried fruits, particularly prunes, and some mild spices emerge.
On the palate : The attack is fluid and fresh, slightly herbaceous, releasing a subtly spiced caramel. Cinnamon and clove accompany a gentle peppery finish, with a fairly delicate oakiness.
The finish : We remain on the sweet spices and the subtle woodiness.
