Flor de Caña 7 ans Grande Réserve is a traditional molasses rum distilled in columns and aged using theslow-ageddistillery method.
The ex-bourbon white oak barrels were stored in a tropical climate for 7 years before bottling.
It's a mild rum that can be drunk neat, over ice, or used as a base for tasty cocktails.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is rather well-balanced and fruity, with a light banana note that wafts over ethereal notes. It's relatively consistent, with notes faithful to this category of light molasses rums: vanilla, nuts, caramel. It's not overly full-bodied and holds up well over time.
Aeration develops the roasted nuts, and this roasted side opens up to coffee. The rum has gained in darkness and bite. We retain the idea of a light rum, which has drawn all it can from the toastiness of the barrel.
The palate is in tune with the nose. Tasty but light, it passes stealthily by, dancing on the taste buds with its ethereal quality. Nuts and wood remain suspended, never settling in.
The finish is light, with toasty wood and a few roasted spices lingering for a few moments.
"A light rum, true to its tradition, whose roasted aromas will color your mojito..."
