Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment is the 5th opus in the "Experimental Series" collection. This experiment was born of a meeting between Matilda Temperly (master distiller of the Somerset Cider Brandy Company) and Brian Kinsman (Glenfiddich's cellar master).
The Temperley family produces Somerset Pomona in southwest England. It's a digestif made from a blend of fresh apple juice and apple brandy, matured in casks for 2 years.
Brian Kinsman decided to recover some of the casks used to age this liqueur. He chose to use them to refine a Scottish single malt which was first aged for two years in ex-bourbon oak casks. The finish lasts 4 months.
