Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment is the 5th opus of the "Experimental Series". This experiment was born from the meeting between Matilda Temperly (master distiller of Somerset Cider Brandy Company) and Brian Kinsman (Glenfiddich's cellar master).
The Temperley family produces Somerset Pomona in the southwest of England. It is a digestif made from a blend of fresh apple juice and apple brandy, matured in casks for two years.
Brian Kinsman decided to recover some of the casks used in the aging of this liqueur. He chose to use them to refine a Scottish single malt that was first aged for two years in ex-bourbon oak casks. The finish is made over a period of 4 months.
