Panama Batch Rum House #3 2009 comes from a volcanic land in Central America, which is ideal for growing sugar cane. Panama has large distilleries with impressive stocks of aged rums. These molasses rums are all column distilled.
This rum was distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2020. After maturing in ex-bourbon casks, it was finished in old Palo Cortado casks. This rare type of sherry gives the rum notes of ripe fruit and a certain roundness.
This limited edition resulted in a total of 4571 bottles.
Nico's tasting note
On the nose, a softly fruity rum is revealed, which pleasantly caresses the nostrils. A silky sensation emanates from the glass, with soft and tender fruits. We find peaches and apricots in syrup, ripe pears, then a velvety mango. A little more candied notes appear later on, with very sticky dates.
The aeration adds to the greediness, letting the vanilla express itself in all its breadth. Other sweet spices contribute to this round and suave atmosphere, with cinnamon adding a touch of pastry.
The palate reveals unsuspected facets, which send us on several tracks at once. Thus, we note a round and caramelised attack, with a touch of molasses. But the surprise comes rather from the heavy and concentrated aromas, almost animal, which follow in the middle of the mouth. One finds a side of soy sauce, meat juice, as well as smoked aromas.
The finish is warm and slightly malty, so it is easy to find the aromas of the old bourbon cask.
"A rum of contrasts that constantly evolves, with which one travels on the side of fruits, spices, smoke and bourbon..."
bernard
A pleasant rum, mild without being too sweet.

An excellent wine, round and very pleasant on the nose and in the mouth. A good balance between dryness and sweetness.
Cédric
A nice little rum.
