This pure cane juice rum is produced on the island of Marie-Galante by the Père Labat distillery and bottled by Les Frères de la Côte.
It was distilled in columns, then aged for 4 years in ex-bourbon casks in the tropics. It was then loaded aboard the cargo ship "Tres Hombres", where it benefited from 3 months of dynamic ageing at sea in ex-bourbon casks. Finally, on arrival at port, the cuvée was rested for 2 months in the Forézien cellar in Saint Etienne, before being bottled, waxed, labeled and finally numbered by hand.
The brewing that the barrels undergo at sea allows the rum to be over-oxygenated for better alcohol integration.
The labels and ropes are 100% plant fiber, and the wax is made from pine resin. The capstan knot that seals the bottle recalls the work of passionate and courageous sailors. Transporting goods by the force of the wind is done with respect for the environment and traditions.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose tells us that the sailboat has crossed the ocean laden with rum and spices. The fresh cane is rounded out with a ladleful of honey, taking on the air of raw sugar, tender and still a little vegetal.
With aeration, the cane refreshes, regaining its original, somewhat wild character. It's a brandy with character, full of sage and very ripe citrus fruit, with a hint of milkiness.
On the palate, the cane juice takes charge, coming alive with color and the tangy, sweet citrus fruits, then their slightly bitter peels. It reveals a thousand vegetal, fruity, spicy and slightly organic colors, surfing the palate and lighting it up as it goes.
The finish is delicious, with candied cane juice and citrus fruit.
"A cane juice that goes solo and gives us a varied improvisation..."

A rum that has benefited from its journey at sea! Powerful attack, complex but tasty aromas. I like to associate it from time to time with a banana-fruit for a sensation close to flambéed banana! Caramel , etc ... The vanilla on the finish reminds me of the quality of the barrels used for this vigorous buccaneer! Much appreciated, thank you.
