This cachaça Magnifica de Faria coleçao de barricas raras is aged in a single oak barrel bearing the number D35.
Distilled in the "Alegria" alembic in February 2005, it was bottled in January 2019 and is now almost 14 years old.
Only 69 bottles were made from the original 200-liter cask. In the tropical climate of the Rio de Janeiro region, the angels' share has done its work here...
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is immediately very colorful and lively. It shows a lovely concentration of fruit, lifted by a veil of solvent. Cane juice mingles with pineapple, mango and lychee, with a beautiful patina of ripeness.
Aeration adds a touch of acidity, with a hint of lemon. It also opens the way to more herbal notes, with sweet aromas. The woodiness is finely spiced, well blended, almost honeyed. A very pleasant, complex cachaça.
The palate is soft and fresh, opening on a note of acidity. The pure cane juice is still very much alive amid this fruity, vegetal concentration. It dominates the proceedings, with deep fermentation. It is then surrounded and dressed by very ripe exotic fruits, pits, a little bitterness from lime zest, and some aromatic herbs.
A powerful, aromatic cachaça returns on the finish, tinged with solvent and copper.
" An aged cachaça in the tradition of the superb Bica do Alambique. L'eau-de-vie is here richly dressed... "
