Mana'o Rangiroa 2020 48,5° : Description and customer reviews

Mana'o Rangiroa 2020 is a pure cane juice rum produced in French Polynesia, on Rangiroa atoll in the Tuamotu archipelago. It is the fruit of the marriage of organically preserved sugar cane and an exceptional coral terroir.

This rum is made from a blend of two varieties of sugar cane: red striped, a very old variety, and reed cane, a more modern variety. The cane is harvested by hand and pressed locally in a single pass, without the addition of water. This is known as "first press" juice. It is then fermented for a few days with organic yeasts before being shipped to Tahiti, where it is distilled.

This white tasting rum delivers unprecedented aromas.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose opens with a warm cane, carried by a coppery air reminiscent of a shiny, burning still. This cane is also powerful, intense, full of citrus fruits and vegetables with concentrated green juice.

With aeration, intensity is still the watchword, as we begin to touch dark berries such as blackcurrant, or cherry pits. An ethereal side also emerges, carrying light, floral notes.

On the palate, the freshness and bitterness of the citrus fruits invade, encouraged by the warm coppery edge that acts as a flavor enhancer. Green cane and its sweet juice take over on the mid-palate, while the texture becomes more oily.

The finish is tangy and floral, with bagasse and pepper adding length.

"This 2020 brings a more incisive and brassy side than usual..."
