Mocambo 10 ans is a Mexican rum aged in solera. This traditional method, inherited from Andalusia, involves blending older vintages with younger ones.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is very soft, with a roasted register caught in a thick wave of vanilla and cane syrup. The coffee notes remain plump, as do the aromas of roasted nuts, which are then generously coated with caramel.
Aeration confirms the thickness of the rum, which doesn't deliver easily. Dark cocoa has been added to the aromatic bouquet, along with a hint of molasses. This nose could sometimes take on the false air of dark beer.
The palate is round, despite the grip of the roasting aromas that invade the palate. The dark, charcoal notes are softened by sweetness, but the texture is not overly oily. The rum remains light, with the caramelization of the wood dominating.
The finish is almost chocolatey, praline-like, then the lightness of the rum cleanses the palate.
"A well roasted rum balanced by a measured sweetness..."
