Mocambo 20 ans is a molasses rum from Mexico, from the Licores Vera Cruz distillery. It is a blend of column distillates and iron stills. Each bottle is a unique work of art by Victor Fernandez Limon. The fibers surrounding the bottle are those used by the Aztecs to make their parchments.
This single cask is limited to 360 bottles.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is that of a dark rum, oily as petroleum. Above all, it carries notes of roasting (coffee and pecans at the top), generously rounded out by a sort of concentrated maple syrup.
After aeration, greedy nuts take complete control. Toasted, still-smoking pecans are coated in molasses, their aroma joining that of a strong, sweet coffee.
The palate is soft but not overly sweet, and the rum begins the presentations with its most roasted aromas. The licorice coffee is quite tasty, and increasingly intense, until a gradual warming of spices takes us by surprise in the middle of the mouth. It's as if we're perceiving aromas of sweet pepper and paprika.
The finish is round and soft, with coffee grounds and walnut stalks gently fading from the tongue.
"Lovers of roasting, whether nuts or coffee, don't hesitate for a second..."

Magnificent bottle, very good aroma of chocolate and coffee with notes of roasted nuts.
