Little known in mainland France because it is not exported, Survi rum enjoys a great reputation in Martinique, its island of origin. It benefits from the Martinique Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (Controlled Designation of Origin).
The brand has its roots in the 1940s, in the heart of the Roches Carrées distillery. The brand name is inherited from the Survilliers family, who owned the estate at the time.
Located on the heights of Lamentin, the distillery closed in the 1970s. The brand was taken over by the Dormoy family and production took place within the La Favorite distillery.
The impressive distillation column, the last vestige of the distillery, is on display at the Cane Museum in the commune of Trois-Îlets.
