Rum Sixty Six 6 years 40°: Description and customer reviews

Rum Sixty Six is a traditional rum from family firm RL Seale, produced at the Foursquare distillery on the island of Barbados.
Made from molasses enriched by the terroir of this small island nation. One part is distilled in Coffey stills, the other in column stills. It is then aged for 6 years in the Foursquare cellars - in a tropical climate - in small American oak barrels.

Rum Sixty Six takes its name from the year of Barbados' independence, 1966.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose opens with a gently roasted, woody profile, covered in spicy, concentrated beeswax. The roasting deposits a few spices that spread out and take on roundness. Without being excessive, it's this toasted side that drives the maneuver: it brings out nuts, caramelized walnuts or even fatty cashews. With a little rest, we arrive at notes of tobacco, vanilla, coconut andorange peel.

The palate is simply balanced, neither sweet nor dry. On the other hand, it delivers on its promise of roasted sensations, with a woodiness that grabs the taste buds and spreads its nuts and spices. Pepper keeps the fire burning and the texture remains very light.

The finish is also light, with toasty oak and a hint of licorice molasses.

"Here's a rum that presents Barbados from a very Bourbon, very American point of view..."

If you like it, we recommend :

  • A complex, well-balanced rum from the same distillery...
  • Still the same distillery, the same profile, but with more finesse...
