Rumclub Private Selection 29 is a selection from German distributor/bottler Spirit of Rum for its RumClub brand.
This 29th cuvée is a rum distilled in Belize from molasses in 2014.
The rum was aged in a bourbon barrel in a tropical climate for 7 years.
It was then imported to Europe for a 4-week finish in a Hampden "DOK" cask.
Bottled brut de fût, this cuvée is limited to 200 numbered bottles.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is like a pot of nuts rolling abundantly in very hot caramel. A few fruity solvent scents emerge, testifying to a fine concentration, like the promise of a rum that will stick to your taste buds.
With aeration, the concentration is confirmed as the rum gains some wild accents that take us towards meat juice, leather and soy sauce. The nuts are strongly roasted on the surface, but still seem soft at heart.
On the palate, the first moments are surprisingly aromatic and funky, in the vein of a Jamaican. The exotic fruits, solvent and black or red berries are unmistakable - the finish has done its work. This strong character is also fresh, tart, but also candied, like an amarena cherry, leading us to rounder, sweeter flavors. This is where we find our Belize rum, caramelized and vanilla-flavored.
The finish is fruity, with a hint of milky black cherry, followed by strongly toasted nuts.
"A very imposing finish that devours an indulgent Belize rum..."
