Like the white rum on which it is based, Saint Aubin Cœur de Chauffe Café is distilled in a traditional iron still.
This produces a toasty core with powerful aromas.
Roasted coffee macerates in this extra premium rum. No other flavors or additives are added, except cane sugar.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose immediately settles on a very natural coffee, so that the alcohol is completely forgotten. There's no hint of sugar either, and it's almost as if it were a kind of café frappé. The rum introduces itself delicately, with a mellow, vegetal hint, followed by a warmth that provides quite a kick.
On the palate, there's the same sensation of iced coffee, but with a good dose of sugar. The coffee is dark, and it's easy to imagine its fine powder and catchy grounds. The rum appears throughout the tasting, detailing very vegetal notes that react to the coffee in a rather novel and evolving way.
"An interesting profile, the fruit of a blend between a truer-than-life coffee and a rum dedicated 100% to cane..."
