Santa Teresa Gran Reserva comes from Venezuela's largest distillery. It is a blend of traditional rums aged in oak casks for up to 5 years.
While Santa Teresa Gran Reserva is above all an aromatic rum designed as a base for premium cocktails, it can also be enjoyed neat.
Nico's tasting notes
In brief: molasses - spices - woody - nuts - coffee - cloves
The nose is perfumed with molasses and spices. Balanced and quite bright. A touch of cane on a caramelized woody note, followed by caramelized nuts. The spices are lightly powdered and enhanced by sweet coffee.
Aeration will unleash the spices and give a boost to this simple, slightly sweet nose. The spices even become wild and spicy.
The palate is marked by nuts and toasted wood. The coffee and molasses on the mid-palate even hint at a rather advanced toasting. The spices are scorched and the clove numbs the taste buds.
The finish is a continuation of the mid-palate, on molasses and coffee, while the clove continues its effect.

Very good rum! I've been drinking it for a long time because I'm Venezuelan, but this one was a Christmas present for my boyfriend and he really enjoyed it too.
