Belle Cabresse

Like Le Coeur de Chauffe and La Cayennaisse, La Belle Cabresse is a brand belonging to the Rhums Saint Maurice distillery.

Founded in 1935 by Georges Prevot, Sucrerie Distillerie du Rorota expanded during the Second World War thanks to strong demand for sugar and rum. During this period, the distillery acquired 16 hectares to grow sugar cane.

It wasn't until 1980 that the Rhums Saint Maurice company was created. The sugar business was discontinued in 1988.
In 1990, Rhums Saint Maurice became the only distillery in French Guiana, whereas in 1930, 17 production units were in operation.

Today, 100 hectares of sugarcane fields are harvested exclusively by hand during the production campaign, which runs from August to December each year. These 100 hectares are located near the distillery in Saint Laurent du Maroni. Read less
