Bologna

The Bologne rum distillery is located south of Basse-Terre (itself the southern half of Guadeloupe).
A family of French Protestants, the De Bolognes, who emigrated first to the Netherlands and then to Brazil, gave the distillery its name.
The distillery was originally a sugar mill, founded in the mid-17th century, which later specialized in rum production.
Passed through the hands of many owners, the Bologna distillery produces agricultural rums from the estate's hand-cut sugar cane and volcanic mineral water. Read less
