Old St Andrews is a blending brand run by OSA Fine Spirits, a family business that has been in operation for two generations. It has enlisted the services of a line of master blenders who have been in the business for 75 years. Initially, the company produced blends for golf clubs. The success of these blends prompted the company to open up to the general public. It's easy to see why the iconic bottle is shaped like a golf ball. The name Old St Andrews is also a tribute to this typically British sport, since it's the name of a famous Scottish golf course.

Old St Andrews produces blended scotch whiskies and blended malt scotch whiskies. The Clubhouse blend is the most famous of these. A blend of malt and grain whiskies from Speyside, the Highlands and Islay, it is made from 15 different malts (20-30% of the blend) and 3 different grain whiskies. Blending and ageing take place in European oak casks that have contained sweet wines or port.

Blended malts are made up of 12 to 18 single malts. They come from Speyside, Highland, Islay and other islands. Half are aged in bourbon casks, the other half in sherry casks.

You can also find the Clubhouse Whisky Barrel blend, in a small decorative barrel featuring an old photo of 19th-century coopers. Read less
