Rivière du Mât

Rivière du Mât is a distillery on Reunion Island, named after the town where it was originally located. Heir to the island's rum-making tradition, which began in 1704, when the first brandy distillery was built, the brand moved to the Saint-Benoît site in 1984 to combine its know-how with modern techniques.
Rivière du Mât produces traditional rum from molasses, as well as agricultural rum made from pure cane juice pressed directly after harvesting. The distillery also produces light rum thanks to its three-column still. Today, the company is Réunion's largest rum producer, with an annual output of over 7 million liters. 85% of this volume is exported.
To bring great balance to its aged rums, Rivière du Mât has set up an original dynamic aging system using new and old oak barrels. Read less
