The Rum Mercenary (and The Whisky Mercenary) is a project by Belgian Jürgen Vromans, launched in 2012. After tasting his first whiskies in the mid-1990s, he went on to visit a number of Scottish distilleries. This passion led to the creation of Whisky Club Cask Six with a few friends. Well-known to whisky enthusiasts, he has scoured the country's festivals and tastings, and created the Flemish blog Beproefd.

He then went professional, creating his own independent bottling brand, The Whisky Mercenary. At the same time, he became the Belgian importer for Liquid Treasure and Kintra. It was with the latter that he created the Sample X range. Read less
