Ardbeg Ardcore is an intense and original single malt Scotch whisky, distilled from black malt on the island of Islay. This is a first for the brand!
The grain is cooked at a very high temperature so that the malt becomes roasted, similar to a coffee or cocoa bean. The drying process has to be monitored very closely as if the temperature exceeds 250°C, the malt can turn into charcoal and catch fire.
The whisky is aged in ex-bourbon American white oak casks, then bottled on site without chill filtration.
