Brugal Añejo is aged for two to five years in specially selected ex-Bourbon American oak casks.
Brugal Añejo's light, dry taste makes it perfect for cocktails. Its woody taste makes it an ideal base for simple long drinks.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose of this "Latino" rum is faithful to the style of its family: wood, molasses, caramel and blond tobacco form the basis of its aromas. There's a slightly tickling toasted hazelnut note. Barrel aging has added notes of toasted wood, toast and vanilla.
The aromatic profile doesn't change fundamentally as time goes by, except that vanilla seems to take on greater importance. Hazelnut has been joined by other toasted nuts, notably almonds.
On the palate, this is a rather light rum, with a sweet side that gives a slightly candy-like fruitiness. The vanilla adds a little thickness on the taste buds, while the sensation from tongue to throat is very fluid.
In the end, the rum comes through very discreetly, with no hint of alcohol lingering.
"This rum will be a subtle and light ingredient for your cocktails..."
