Don Q Double Aged Vermouth Cask is aged in Puerto Rico, where it was distilled. An American white oak cask was initially used for a period of 5 to 8 years. When the cellar master considered that optimum maturity had been reached, the rum was transferred to 600-liter casks that had previously contained vermouth, specifically Mancino Vecchio. The barrels are made of Italian oak and are produced in Canelli, a pretty Piedmontese village not far from Genoa, famous for its vineyards.
After 4 to 6 weeks in these vermouth barrels, the rum was bottled.
