Ferroni La Dame Jeanne 10 Maurice is a pure cane juice rum distilled in the heart of the Indian Ocean. Mauritius is rich in distilleries, working with both molasses and vesou. What we have here is a pure cane juice eau-de-vie distilled in pot-still. It develops extremely vegetal aromas, which the rest in Dame Jeanne has taken the time to round out and sublimate.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose opens with a sweet cane, with a slightly cooked juice that brings hints of licorice. Despite this, an herbaceous, green ambience dominates, with a hint of drier, peppery vegetation.
Aeration develops a more airy, acidic register, with white flowers that lightly take flight. Then we're left with a very fragrant cane, full of chlorophyll and fresh fruit.
The palate is mellow, with candied cane bark and savory pepper. A hint of copper and acidity takes over, initiating a more mineral phase, which in turn gives way to an exotic fruit brandy.
The finish is both dry and pastry-like, like kirsch with a hint of cane sugar.
