Karukera Vieux is an agricultural rum, i.e. pure cane juice, which has spent more than 3 years in barrels that previously contained cognac. It is a very good introduction to the brand's aged rums.
The Drouin family, historical producers of calvados, is responsible for the ageing of Karukera's Rhum Vieux Agricole.
This rum is presented here in a 3-litre version, for Karukera fans!
Laurent's tasting note
Its colour is golden.
On the nose, the spices are strikingly intense: nutmeg, in particular, and pepper. The citrus fruits (orange and lime) somehow manage to take their place, while a slight roasted impression is present in the background.
On the palate, we find the aromas perceived on the nose, with the pepper even more present, especially during the mouthfeel.
The finish is long and intense, with spices, orange and a discreet vanilla. Karukera Rhum Vieux Agricole remains on the palate for a long time and offers a good balance.
