Nikka Discovery is a series launched in 2021 as part of the company's 90th anniversary, which will come to an end in 2024. Its aim is to create cuvees that highlight key stages in the making of Nikka whiskies. For this 2022 edition, the collection highlights the Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries through the fermentation yeasts they use.
Nikka Discovery Miyagikyo Aromatic Yeast is a single malt. It comes from the distillery in Miyagi prefecture, on the island of Honshu. The yeast used by Miyagikyo for fermentation enhances the aromatic intensity. They give the freshly distilled whisky fruity aromas of peach and apricot.
