Pilleur d'arômes Arrangé Pomme Cannelle de Ceylan is an arranged rum from the Tarn-et-Garonne region of France. The base rum is also French, but not distilled overseas. It's an organic molasses rum, produced at the Baptiste distillery in the Cantal region of France. It's a highly aromatic rum, also known as grand arôme, produced in a small copper pot still.
The apple and cinnamon have also been carefully selected. The fruit comes from the Trixe orchards in Montauban, while the cinnamon from Sri-Lanka is among the most fragrant in the world.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose opens with a fairly intense, punchy profile, with exotic, fruity notes. The rum is fresh, supported by natural, fragrant cinnamon. A hint of herbs evokes dried aromatics or herbal tea, for a decidedly aromatic character.
The attack on the palate is round and tasty, but not overly sweet. The mid-palate is balanced, very soft, and gently coats the palate. Herbal tea and cinnamon aromas gradually build up around a delicious baked apple.
The finish returns to intense, funky rum, with fruity, herbal and resinous notes. The length is extremely greedy and pastry-like, typical of grand aroma rums.
"A beautiful marriage of fruit, sweet spices, and a full-bodied, aromatic rum..."
