Produced in the Dominican Republic and presented in an attractive case, Barcelo Gran Añejo is the result of a meticulous blend of several rums aged for a minimum of three years in oak barrels that have previously contained bourbon.
This well-balanced rum won a gold medal at the 2003 International Rum Festival.
Laurent's tasting notes
Pale gold in color.
On the nose, the impression is dry. The dominant aroma is clearly caramel. This is followed by roasted chocolate notes. Finally, a touch of vanilla appears. The whole is relatively fresh.
On the palate, the attack is supple but dry, with no sugar. The same aromas are present as on the nose. However, chocolate and caramel are on a par. Although the palate is rather light, the aromas are not all that shy.
The finish is fairly long and still dry. The same notes remain, with a discreet woodiness showing through.

A little dry rum that I like to drink as an aperitif.
