Produced in the Dominican Republic and presented in a beautiful case, Barcelo Gran Añejo is the result of a meticulous blend of several rums that have been aged for a minimum of three years in oak barrels that have previously contained bourbon.
This well-balanced rum won a gold medal at the International Rum Festival in 2003.
Laurent's tasting note
Its colour is pale gold.
On the nose, the impression is dry. The dominant aroma is clearly caramel. This is followed by roasted chocolate notes. Finally a touch of vanilla appears. The whole is relatively fresh.
On the palate, the attack is supple but dry, no sugar here. We find the same markers as on the nose. Chocolate and caramel are however equal. Although the palate is rather light, the aromas are not so shy.
The finish is quite long and still dry. The same notes remain and a discreet woodiness shows through.

A little dry rum that I like to drink as an aperitif
