House of Mccallum MC Explorer Porto Finish is bottled by a Scot and comes from an undisclosed Caribbean distillery.
This is a 2009 vintage finished in Port casks.
The work depicted on the bottle was created by Gordon Mitchell, a British artist halfway between surrealist and impressionist.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose opens with a very roasted rum, with well-roasted pecans and toasty oak. The rum also carries a mineral, metallic edge, somewhere between gunflint and copper. In this rather dry profile, we can also distinguish some tannic-skinned black fruits.
Aeration does nothing to dispel this resolutely roasted atmosphere, except to reveal a few flashes of vanilla, before returning to a dark, licorice-tinged side.
On the palate, the roast grips the taste buds and will delight lovers of tightly-pressed coffee. The charred nuts roll around like little black marbles, and the nut slivers are still steaming. In the heart of this toasted rum, a colorful glow emerges. A few fruits flash by, covered in scorched wood.
The finish is milder and lighter, with a slight dryness of black fruit tannins lingering on the palate.
"A rum for lovers of roasting in all its forms...".
