Kuna Belize is a molasses rum produced in a small Central American state bordering the Caribbean Sea. Although surrounded by Spanish-speaking countries, Belize has more of an English tradition, as does the rum produced there. After column distillation, it was aged in old bourbon casks, a selection of which was blended for this cuvée.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose, we discover a rather light rum, firmly held by aromas of roasting, charcoal and burnt wood. A hint of acidity begins to take over, bringing with it finely fruity colors and a slightly lemony cane syrup.
Aeration reveals an effectively light profile, very finely spiced, ethereal, with a roast that gradually gives way to freshness.
The palate is very light, with vanilla rounding out the attack. The toasted wood then slowly builds up its flavors of caramel-coated nuts and sweet spices, with a certain sweetness to boot.
The finish is mellow and caramelized.
"A light version of Belize rum, with a gentle approach to American oak..."
