Hispaniola N°6 is a selection made by Les Frères de la Côte during the 2021-2022 crossing carried out by the sailboat “Tres Hombres”. This cuvée comes from a blend of molasses rums produced in the Dominican Republic by the Oliver & Oliver distillery.
This rum benefited from 18 years of solera-type aging in ex-bourbon American white oak barrels in a tropical climate. It was then transferred to Olorosso Sherry barrels for dynamic ageing at sea aboard the Brigantine.
Once in the Saint-Étienne cellars, the rum was aged for a further year in a former Foursquare rum barrel.
Bottling was carried out to the so-called “overproof” degree. This term is linked to the Navy Rum of the English Navy. Historically, the degree of alcohol had to be sufficient for the gunpowder to always ignite, above 57°.
No fewer than 900 numbered bottles were produced from 2 barrels.
