Planteray Jamaica 5 Years is one of the vintages in the “Single Cask 2024” collection for the Dutch distributor Right Spirits.
For once, double aging followed by a finish is out. Here, Planteray offers us a vintage with tropical aging followed by a continental finish.
This is a molasses rum distilled in Jamaica, probably in 2019. The production location is not mentioned, but it appears to be a blend of two origins. Some sources mention Clarendon and a second house located in Lluidas Vale.
The rum was aged for 5 years in bourbon barrels before finishing for 8 months in a barrel that previously contained a Ferrand Dry Curaçao. This vintage resonates like an experiment. As of this writing, it is the only rum with such a refinement.
Dry Curaçao Ferrand is a traditional French “triple sec” liqueur: three separate distillations of curaçao orange peel, blended with Pierre Ferrand brandy and cognac.
