Séverin
Created in 1928 by Henri Marsolle, the Séverin distillery is located in the domain of the same name, at the foot of the luxuriant mountains of northern Basse-Terre, in Guadeloupe. It is located on a former sugar house in the commune of Sainte-Rose called Bellevue, which became a pineapple cannery in 1800.
Since 1928 and the beginning of the production of agricultural rum, three generations of Marsolle have succeeded one another by regularly enriching the range of several products which draw their essence from the Guadeloupean tradition and the art of ageing (use of barrels of Bordeaux or cognac among others). The Marsolle family is the oldest dynasty of rum makers in Guadeloupe.
One of the symbols of the Séverin distillery is a paddle wheel used to extract juice from the sugar cane. Although it stopped working in 2010, it is still present on the estate. The Grande Maison, the estate's home, is also a museum. Read less
