Founded in 1928 by Henri Marsolle, the Séverin distillery is located on the estate of the same name, at the foot of the lush mountains of northern Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe. It is located on the site of a former sugar mill in the commune of Sainte-Rose, known as Bellevue, which became a pineapple cannery in 1800.

Since 1928 and the start of agricultural rum production, three generations of Marsolle have succeeded one another, regularly enriching the range with several products that draw their essence from Guadeloupean tradition and the art of ageing (using Bordeaux or cognac barrels, among others). The Marsolle family is Guadeloupe's oldest rum-making dynasty.

One of the symbols of the Séverin distillery is the paddle wheel used to extract juice from the sugar cane. Although it ceased to operate in 2010, it is still present on the estate. The Grande Maison, the estate's home, is also a museum. Read less
