A family story

The Teeling Whiskey Company was founded by an Irish family.

In 1782, Walter Teeling established a distillery in the heart of Dublin, at a time when the Irish city was home to some 30 distilleries. Like most distilleries, the Teeling distillery disappeared when sales of Irish whiskey ran out of steam.

It was only much later, in 1987, that the family was traced. John Teeling founded the Cooley distillery in 1987, on the east coast of Ireland, at a time when the Irish whiskey world consisted of just two distilleries: Bushmills and Midleton.

In 2012, Jack and Stephen, working with their father John, were involved in negotiations concerning the sale of Cooley to Beam International.

Keen to continue their adventure in the world of whiskey, they launched the Teeling Whiskey Company the same year and built the Teeling Whiskey Distillery in 2015, the first distillery to open in Dublin in 125 years, just a stone's throw from their ancestors' distillery.

A variety of whiskeys and maturations

Until the distillery is able to produce on a regular basis, Teeling bottles a wide range of Irish casks, from unaged blends to aged whiskeys, as well as sourcing original casks.

These include Teeling Small Batch, which is finished in rum barrels; Teeling Single Grain, aged in red wine barrels; Teeling Single Malt, with a range of finishes (Cabernet-Sauvignon, white Burgundy, port, sherry, Madeira); Teeling Brabazon (sherry, port); Teeling Reserve, with long maturation periods (up to 33 years); and Teeling Revival, with its various finishes.
