Elements 8 Cacao is a rum infused with Criollo cocoa beans.
These Criollo beans are renowned for their many nutritional and aromatic virtues.
Criollo was the cocoa of the Mayas. Today, this variety is found in many Central American and Caribbean countries (including Saint Lucia, where this rum was distilled and produced), as well as in a few African countries (Cameroon).
However, it represents only 1% of global cocoa production. The tree is fragile and yields are low. This is the price to pay for top-quality cocoa.
This infused rum can be served chilled, or as the base of a cocktail.
Tasting notes
The nose reveals aromas of toasted wood, cocoa beans and dark chocolate.
On the palate, it's an experience akin to tasting high-quality dark chocolate...

coat: old gold
A nose of coconut, vanilla, milk chocolate, honey and a light roasting aroma (coffee).
Beautiful aromatic intensity. It really reminds me of the nose of Rhum arrangé "banane cacao" from Rhum de Ced, but more complex.
The attack on the palate is syrupy. There are aromas of coconut, vanilla, caramelized pranilla, milk chocolate and coffee.
A heavy, greedy ensemble.
Medium-length finish of coffee and milk chocolate.
A very rich rum. Avoid after a big meal!
I think it should be interesting in a cocktail preparation. In fact, its high sugar content and aromatic palette would be ideal in a bananacolada.
Pure, it's not worth much unless you like very syrupy spirits.
3/5 for its interest in mixology
