Fazenda Soledade began distilling cachaça in 1977, with a project far broader than the production of spirits alone. It is located in the heart of Brazil's Atlantic rainforest. This tropical rainforest and its wildlife are threatened by deforestation.

Soledade has therefore created what are known as RPPNs (Private Natural Heritage Reserves). These protected areas guarantee biological diversity, protect endangered species and conserve samples of ecosystems.

Soledade cachaças are selections from one-pass distillations by small local producers, redistilled in two passes at the Fazenda. This double distillation is carried out in small copper stills, and only the heart of the toast is kept. It's a slow distillation in very small vats, entirely under human supervision.

Always with the aim of preserving the environment as far as possible, we treat the distillation residues (vinasse) before returning them to nature. A process of oxygenation, decantation and activated carbon filtration is used to guarantee the quality and efficiency of the treatment.

Aging takes place at an altitude of 900 meters, in the warm, humid conditions of the Atlantic forest. It lasts between 1 and 3 years.

Maestro Cachaceiro then blends the cuvées and bottles them after cold filtration.

Soledade offers a white, unaged cachaça called Pura. Cachaças can also be aged in ipê, umburana or balsamo (exotic wood) casks. It even offers a rum (a blend of molasses and pure juice), which is quite unusual in the region. Read less
