NPU means Nec Plus Ultra: it is a golden rum particularly suitable for making Tiki cocktails (Zombie, Mai Tai, etc.).
This version at 40° (more “reasonable” than that at 74°) allows it to also be enjoyed dry.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose, we discover a resolutely exotic, funky profile, with very ripe, fragrant tropical fruit that also carries a sweet, almost creamy edge. We imagine the velvety flesh of an orangey mango, and even a fragrant jackfruit.
Aeration brings a hint of herbs and resin, as well as some sweet, lightly sprinkled spices, which introduce a gourmet, pastry-like register. But it's the very ripe exotic fruits that dominate, in a very Jamaican style.
The palate is very smooth and fluid, and the fuller-bodied tropical fruit flavors quickly dilute. They mingle with a pastry cream scented with raisins, pits and a hint of pine sap, with a light coppery touch.
The finish remains exotic and warmly tropical, with a lingering iodine note.
"All the "funk" of Jamaican rums, with great fluidity..."
